For a mid-sized company, cloud migration is more than moving servers: applications, data and operational processes leave your own data centre or virtualised environment and move to the cloud β and are restructured along the way so that they run securely, scalably and cost-efficiently there. ventx provides cloud migration consulting and implementation from Munich, Germany: we plan and deliver your migration to AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or STACKIT β for customers across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on site or remotely.
Ageing hardware, the end of a data centre contract, rising virtualisation licence costs or the wish for faster release cycles: the trigger differs from company to company, the questions are the same. Which workloads belong in the cloud and which stay? What does the target architecture look like? How do we migrate without downtime and without security gaps? Our engineers answer these questions not on slides but with a solid assessment, a landing zone built as infrastructure as code and a migration plan that fits your operations.

We inventory the servers, applications, databases, interfaces and dependencies in your data centre, rate every workload by technical cloud readiness, business criticality and cost, and deliver a prioritised migration backlog with an effort estimate.
Before the first workload moves, we build your landing zone: account or subscription structure, network and connectivity to your sites, central IAM with single sign-on, logging, backup and policy-based guardrails β the foundation for every migration wave that follows.
Not every application needs the same path. Following the 6R model, we decide per workload between rehost (lift & shift), replatform (e.g. onto a managed database service), refactor or re-architect (containerisation, serverless), repurchase (SaaS), retire and retain β with a clear rationale for effort and benefit.
We migrate file servers, object and backup data as well as databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server or MongoDB to the cloud β with replication and delta sync for minimal downtime, verified data integrity and, if you wish, into managed services such as Amazon RDS, Azure SQL or Cloud SQL.
Classic applications are lifted to the cloud as virtual machines; modern workloads are containerised and run on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, Google GKE, STACKIT SKE) β including Helm charts, ingress, secrets management and observability.
Encryption at rest and in transit, network segmentation, least-privilege IAM, central audit logging and data residency in EU regions: we build the requirements of the GDPR, ISO 27001 or industry-specific regulations into the architecture from day one.
Your entire cloud environment is written as code with Terraform or OpenTofu and rolled out through GitLab pipelines. This makes migrations repeatable, changes traceable and lays the foundation for our DevOps services.
We calculate the target cost before the migration, size instances and storage appropriately, use reserved instances or savings plans and set up budgets, tagging and cost dashboards, so the cloud bill never comes as a surprise.
After cut-over we take over operations if you wish β as managed Kubernetes, with monitoring and incident response as part of our DevOps services, or as reinforcement for your team through our project support.
We start with workshops and an automated inventory of your environment: servers, applications, data volumes, dependencies, licences and operational processes. You receive a cloud readiness assessment with a rating of all workloads, an initial cost estimate for the target platform and a business case for the migration.
On this basis we jointly choose the target platform β AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or STACKIT β and define the migration strategy per workload. The deliverables are a target architecture document, the landing zone design (accounts, network, IAM, logging, guardrails) and a migration plan with waves, responsibilities and schedule.
We build the landing zone as infrastructure as code and migrate a representative, non-critical workload as a pilot. This verifies connectivity, security concept, backup, monitoring and the migration procedure before production systems are affected. You receive a working landing zone and a proven runbook.

The actual migration to the cloud runs in waves, cut by dependencies and business criticality. In each wave we migrate servers, data and applications according to the agreed runbook β automated with the platform's migration tooling and Terraform/OpenTofu. Every wave ends with an acceptance test and a lessons-learned review.
We schedule the switch-over in an agreed maintenance window β with a final delta sync of the data, DNS change, smoke tests and a tested rollback plan. Afterwards we validate function, performance and security together with your business units and document the new environment.
After go-live we optimise cost and performance (right-sizing, autoscaling, reserved capacity), close the hypercare phase and hand over to your team or to our managed service. You receive operations documentation, monitoring dashboards and, if you wish, a service level agreement for ongoing operations.
Every migration to the cloud starts from an existing environment. These are the starting points we see most often at mid-sized companies:
Since 2013 we have been guiding companies from Munich and the entire DACH region into the cloud. What sets us apart from a traditional system integrator:

A migrated environment needs operations, updates and automation. We run it for you as managed Kubernetes or automate your cloud platform with our DevOps services.

In six phases: analysis & assessment, strategy & target architecture, pilot, migration waves, cut-over & validation, and optimisation & operations β each with a concrete deliverable, from the assessment report to the operations documentation. A cloud readiness assessment usually takes a few weeks, migrating a mid-sized data centre several months; you receive a reliable schedule after the assessment. Our team in Munich guides you through every phase β on site or remotely, for customers across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
We migrate to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud as well as to the sovereign German cloud STACKIT. ventx is a platform partner of these providers and advises you independently β the target platform follows your requirements for cost, compliance and data sovereignty.
Yes. We migrate on-premises data centres and virtualised environments (VMware, Hyper-V) including applications, databases and file servers to the cloud β and likewise from one cloud to another, into hybrid environments, or from self-managed Kubernetes clusters to EKS, AKS, GKE or STACKIT SKE.
By migrating in waves, replicating and delta-syncing data right up to the switch-over, running a pilot before the first production wave, agreeing maintenance windows for the cut-over and testing a rollback plan. Many workloads can be migrated this way with only a few minutes of downtime.
We store and process your data in the providers' EU regions β for example AWS eu-central-1 (Frankfurt), Azure Germany West Central or Google Cloud europe-west3 β or on the sovereign German cloud STACKIT. Encryption, access concepts, audit logging and the data processing agreement with the provider are part of the architecture from the start.
The effort depends on scope, number of workloads and target platform. After an initial call and the cloud readiness assessment you receive an individual quote for the migration as well as an estimate of the ongoing cloud costs β get in touch.
